About Emily

I am a what some might call a quintessential host.

It is in my genes. My Nana hosted our large and loud Italian family weekly. I grew up with extra seats at the dinner table allllll the time. It was like magic. How did my Nana and mom know the perfect amount of food to have? How did they make me feel so cared for?

Without knowing it, I absorbed it all along the way. I have observed this hosting my whole life, and then I became obsessed with it. I wanted to be this kind of host.

You know what I have learned? Magic creates the best dinner parties. The host is quietly moving behind the scenes to make sure everyone is fed and feels comfortable and cared for. It’s like they knew exactly what you needed before you even needed it. It may just be eating a burger on a paper plate, but there's a seat for you. You’re full and happy.

I apply this hosting magic to all the sessions I photograph.

I know you have a million things on your plate right now. You probably just washed that one green sippy cup for the 1000th time. Let me take the pressure and stress of family photos from you. I will help you every step of the way. What should we wear? Send me photos and I will help you choose. What will we do during the session? I will help you figure that out.

My only request from you?

That you are vulnerable with me.

Let your kids be wild and crazy. Let your house be messy. I want to photograph the raw moments, the everyday moments you never want to forget. I will be right there feeling all the feelings with you as you watch your babies play in the mud and dance in the living room. Click I just froze that moment for you forever.

How It Started

“I aLwAyS hAd A cAmErA iN mY hAnD” - said every damn photographer ever.

But it really is true for me. In high school, I lost my tiny (read: crappy) digital camera on a hayride and wept in front of my crush. Obsessed much?

My camera was an extension of my feelings. I felt the world so deeply my entire life, and I felt like with my camera I could capture those feelings in a photo rather than try to articulate them. It became my tool for understanding people, the world, and relationships.

For years, I used it to tell romantic love stories at weddings, but since becoming a mom, I’m drawn to telling family stories. I am experiencing about a million new emotions a day as a mom, and I’m leaning on my camera again to help me make sense of it all.

BORN, RAISED,
(AND WILL PROBABLY DIE) IN INDY

I tried to quit this place once, but I just can’t.

I went out of state for college. Allllll the way down to Alabama. (What was I thinking?)

I got my little booty back here right after graduation, married my husband, and settled in. I love this place more than I can describe and I know you do too if you’re still here.

“Best family photo experience we have ever had! I was stressed about my kids behavior and the house looking nice, but the moment Emily walked in, all of that went out the door. Truly like hanging out with a friend then receiving the most amazing photographs of your family.”
